All of those are points that should be discussed, so even AWS novices can learn from and understand when this approach is appropriate to their use case.

I don’t agree with your assessment that this combination of requirements is niche. But regardless of whether it’s niche or not, if it’s your requirement, then you gotta deal with them.

And if you’re worried about novices choosing this approach for the wrong use cases then you should absolutely bring the discussion to the public and talk about it and compare them. Even if no one talks about it, people will still come up with this idea and use it. I certainly didn’t come up with this idea myself. As I mentioned at the start of this post, I have observed quite a few companies applying this approach, hence why I put this post together to discuss its tradeoffs.
